Classic Ford Hot Rod

Pappy - 1930 Model A Coupe

This car had already been modified (drip rails removed and top filled in) by the time I bought it. I did a simple, straight-forward traditional hot rod build: removed the fenders, lowered the suspension, hopped up the banger motor, etc. Pappy was super fun to work on with my boys and even more fun to drive. This is the car referenced in the manual “The Simple Guide to Building a Traditional Hot Rod: The Basics”. Click HERE to learn more!

SOLD

Ratty - 1931 Model A Roadster

This car was a true barn find. It had actually been hidden away in a barn in Maine for 50 years. Consequently, Ratty had colorful patina, lots of rust, and a strong smell of rat urine - hence the name “Ratty”. This build required me to strip down to the frame and rebuild using original, period-specific parts. My goal was to enter and race Ratty in the The Race of Gentlemen (T.R.O.G.) in Wildwood, NJ. The car was accepted to T.R.O.G. 2022 but we were unable to race due to Hurricane Ian.  The car was accepted again for T.R.O.G. 2024 and I had a blast racing on the beach!

Classic Ford Hot Rod

Yellowstone - 1928 Model A Roadster

I found this beauty in great condition in North Carolina. I worked on it just enough to get it running, driving, and braking and then decided not to hot rod it. I realized that 1928/29 roadsters were not a good fit for my 6'1" frame without significant modifications. This car sold on the first day advertised to a representative from Yellowstone Production Company who indicated it would used in the Paramount+ television series, 1923

SOLD

Okie Coupe - 1930 Model A Coupe

I bought this car from a family member in Oklahoma. A small plaque on the dash says, “1930 Model A 1930-1977 McLean, VA / 1977-1991 Aerospace Museum San Diego, CA”. The car had likely been “restored” in the 1970s and was complete with sky blue upholstery. I chopped the top 4" and added a 1948 59AB Flathead V8 along with several other traditional hot rod modifications.

Bella - 1931 Model A Roadster

I found this car and had to have it. It was too nice to modify for a traditional style hot rod. Car was mostly original as far as I could tell.  The paint was not original but not new either. It looked good from about 10 feet. I took my time, fixed it up a bit, enjoyed driving it, and eventually sold it.

SOLD

The Red Truck - 1931 Model A Pickup

This truck is pretty amazing. It is not one of my traditional build cars but it is very cool. I bought this from a friend who spent a lot of time and effort to make it just right for racing. It has a really great drivetrain, banger with balanced crank, performance cam, high compression head, dual Stromberg 81 carbs, lightened flywheel, T-5 transmission, juice brakes, and a quick change rear end. I cleaned up the truck and brought it back to life. This is the fastest and most powerful banger motor I have experienced.

El Jefe - 1934 Three Window Coupe

I'm so excited about this car! Every time I would see one of these chopped Model 40s I would think, "someday". I made a goal to eventually build my own and after years I finally found a 1934 Ford 3-window coupe just an hour from my shop. What a find! This car was hot rodded and drag raced probably 50 years ago. I absolutely love its hot rod history. The old school drop axle, chop, and channel make this car a real treasure. I'm currently building it up as a traditional style Bonneville Salt Flats racer.  Who knows, maybe it will see the salt someday.

Seth's - 1930 Model A Coupe

The inspiration for Seth’s coupe began when he first saw 'Pappy,' one of my first traditional builds. That spark turned into a full-blown passion after he attended The Race of Gentlemen (T.R.O.G.) in 2024. We brainstormed about his vision of his perfect hot rod and soon after we located a solid foundation, a coupe near New York City. We began sourcing the right parts and building his dream car. Seth's meticulous attention to detail has resulted in a spectacular machine that is, without a doubt, one of the cleanest Early Ford Traditional Style Hot Rods I've had the privilege to work on.
